How is the course assembled?

Our courses consist of a number of interlocking astro grass tiles. They connect together like jigsaw puzzle pieces so it only takes about 3 minutes to assemble each hole, you can watch a short demonstration in their VIDEO.

We use lightweight foam 'bumpers' - these are edge strips that velcro along the edge of the course to keep the ball in play. These take about another 3 or 4 minutes to attach to each hole.

Our obstacles are injection moulded modern mini golf obstacles. These are lightweight and modern in look and feel - and highly playable! Simply position as needed on each hole.

In all, a full size 9 hole portable Crazy Golf / Mini Golf course may be assembled in approximately 30 minutes by one person. It takes about the same time to pack up again.

What surface do I need?

Any reasonably flat and level surface may be used. We have laid the golf course out on the following surfaces:

  • school fields
  • football/rugby sports fields
  • back gardens
  • indoors on office floors
  • community centre halls
  • village halls
  • car parks
  • gym floors (our courses are rubber backed and won't damage the floor)
  • hotel lobbies
  • hotel function rooms
  • pub lounges
  • shopping centre arcades

The only surface we have ever had a real problem with is a 'meadow'. Farmers' fields and meadows tend to be quite rough and rutted. Normal school and sports fields are usually pretty good, especially if recently mown.

Can I use the course outdoors? What if it gets wet?

Yes, you can use it outdoors. It doesn't matter if it gets wet - it soon dries.

Can I use the course indoors? Will it damage the floor?

Yes, you can use the golf course indoors. The course has a rubber backing and will not mark the floor. It can safely be used on hotel dance floors, school gyms, laminated floors etc.

We supply low bounce golf balls for outdoors use and softer foam golf balls for use indoors.

How big are the golf courses?

Each tile is 1 metre square. Each hole is usually made up of either 2,3, 4 or 5 tiles. So, a typical small hole is 3 metres by 1 metre and a typical large hole is 5 metres by 1 metre.

We supply the Supersize and Funsize Courses for hire in large boxes on a pallet. Our smaller hire the Bitesize Course would be two boxes and are delivered by courier, which would allow you to build 4 x 3 metre holes, or 2 x 2 metre and 2 x 4 metre holes - which would be just about right for an exhibition booth hire.

Our standard Funsize 9 hole portable golf course would be 27 tiles. This would allow you to build 9 x 3 metre holes, though we usually recommend a mixture of 3 metre, 4 metre and 5 metre holes as the size variation makes for a more interesting course. We supply a layout guide for this.

How much space do I need?

The more the better! However, our Supersize and Funsize 9 hole Courses ideally need about half the size of a tennis court. A good sized back garden is often enough. We suggest 50sqms is a good starting point for space to allow for flow around the holes.

For our Bitesize Course which is a 12 tile option, you will be able to build 4 x 3 metre holes – a perfect size option for birthday party hire or celebration! Overall the Bitesize Course needs a minimum of 20sqms.

What ages does it suit?

The great thing about crazy golf / mini golf is that it appeals to everyone, no matter what age or ability of golfer – anything from 3 to 103. Our oldest player to date was 87!

What Equipment is supplied with the course?

With each of our portable course options, we supply a number of astro grass tiles for the putting surface, lightweight foam edge bumpers to keep the ball in play and a selection of moulded injection obstacles to position anywhere on the course. You can choose from a selection of adult and junior rubber headed putters and low bounce golf balls or foam balls. We can even supply plastic putters for the smaller players, just tell us at time of enquiry or booking.

What are the delivery options?

All our course deliveries include the cost of return delivery. We deliver the Supersize and Funsize Courses via the pallet network Fortec as this gives us national coverage and the flexibility of selecting a timed delivery if necessary (additional charges apply for times deliveries). Our smaller Course options can be delivered as Next Day Parcels through the APC network and again our hire prices reflect the cost of the logistics to enable this.

If purchasing mini golf accessories, we use a number of different couriers based on the box dimensions and weight of the products, but select the most cost effective service for the client and their destination.

Will someone setup the course?

No because we despatch our portable Crazy Golf / Mini Golf course packages by Courier to your chosen location for you to assemble as you need. This keeps the cost down and makes for the most flexible golf course hire possible!

Our courses consist of a number of interlocking astro grass tiles. They connect together like jigsaw puzzle pieces - it takes about 3 minutes to assemble each hole.

We use lightweight foam 'bumpers' - these are edge strips that velcro along the edge of the course to keep the ball in play. These take about another 2-3 minutes to attach to each hole.

Are there safety issues?

The course is made up of high-density non-toxic astro grass tiles. The tiles are interlocking and have a non-slip base - they stay in place on any surface.

Each tile is fully drained via numerous punch holes. Though they may get very wet in an English summer - they'll soon dry off.

Even if children or other players fall over on them, they'll be perfectly safe - each tile has a safe fall height of 0.9m (concrete), 1.0m (grass/earth) or 1.2m (wooden sprung floors).

The tiles are fully stain resistant and UV treated. They can be used both indoors and outdoors and will not fade.

Additionally, the tiles are:

  • Ammonia free and non toxic
  • CE approved and conformant with fire and children's toxicity tests
  • Conformant with European Standard on Safety of Toys EN71 Part 1:1998
  • Conformant with Mechanical and Physical Properties EN 71 Part 2:1993
  • Conformant with Flammability of Toys and EN 71 Part 3: Migration of Certain Elements
  • Manufactured to ISO 9001 standards

We use low bounce golf balls which do not have the flight of a traditional golf ball – this reduces the chance of broken windows or glass. Our putters are rubber headed for two reasons, firstly to ensure that safety is maintained at all times as the player’s safety is at the forefront of our minds, but secondly to help maintain the longevity of the putting surface.

Can you do company branding?

Corporate branding opportunities are available, we are able to add company logos or other branding to the astro grass tiles or the foam edge bumpers and add obstacles and colours to conform to a particular theme, please contact us to discuss your requirements.
